SIURA won 2nd prize for the design competition of the BP Batam International Plaza with ecological and site context sensitive design. The GARDEN OF HOPE concept is inspired by the Batam island landscape which are predominantly hilly terrains and shorelines. The existing Ficus trees which
were planted by former Asean leaders in 1987 is preserved and made distinct at the heritage 'island' with storm water retention pool as infinity buffer. Three natural green hills are sculpted to screen vehicular traffic and noise from the roundabout road.The result of the design creates a safe & accessible roundabout park, better greenery, new social space and a natural landmark representing the city of Batam.
