Transforming red terrain into green haven
Bintan’s flat, bauxite-rich terrain and tropical exposure shaped the design response. Instead of resisting these conditions, the landscape embraced them, introducing gentle elevation and stepped ponds to manage water naturally, while dense softscape layers provided shade, comfort, and ecological performance. Each challenge became an opportunity to bring water, light, and vegetation deeper into the resort’s daily life.
Where rippling water become the sound of calm
The forest courtyard were divided into 3 section with pond as anchor that seamlessly connect to the lagoon while the swimming pool provide a relaxing space to calm. A cascading pond beside the pools captures and recycles rainfall, forming a reflective link between leisure and ecology. Around it, lush planting connects the pools and ponds into one continuous green framework. Native species thrive across courtyards and façades, shaping a breathable resort that feels alive and ever-cooling.

Within this layered landscape, guests move through soft shade and mirrored water. The air feels cooler, the sound of water constant. Every view reveals greenery, from corridors to decks overlooking the cascading pond. Planting flows alongside corridors, into terraces, on and around the water allowing the architecture itself to breathe with the landscape. Though it sits apart from the main lagoon, guests remain visually connected to the wider water system that binds the entire complex together.
