Tebet Eco Park has been recognized with a Mention at the CITY’SCAPE AWARD 2026, an international landscape architecture award that highlights projects exploring new relationships between landscape, architecture, and contemporary urban challenges. Among 416 projects submitted from across the world, the park was acknowledged in the category of Urban Forestry and Landscape Redevelopment of Urban Spaces.
The recognition reflects the transformation of a fragmented urban landscape into a connected ecological and public space, where water, planting, and everyday activities are integrated into the design.
Regenerating a Fragmented Urban Landscape
Located in the heart of Jakarta, Tebet Eco Park brings together ecological functions and everyday public life within an existing urban landscape.
The intervention transforms a degraded and fragmented park into an inclusive public ecosystem where water infrastructure, biodiversity, and community life converge. The renaturalisation of the watercourse, increased drainage capacity, preservation of existing trees, and reuse of on-site materials are part of this approach.
Water, Ecology and Everyday Life
Water management became an important part of the park’s landscape strategy. The restored watercourse and increased drainage capacity support the site’s ecological function while responding to Jakarta’s urban conditions.
At the same time, planting and existing vegetation help strengthen the park’s habitat value. Public paths, open spaces, and everyday activities are integrated into the same landscape, allowing the park to function as both ecological infrastructure and public space.
Rather than separating environmental systems from public use, the design brings these functions together within a shared urban landscape.
A Public Landscape for Jakarta
Today, Tebet Eco Park continues to support a range of everyday activities while contributing to Jakarta’s wider urban ecology. The project demonstrates how the regeneration of an existing landscape can create space for both people and nature within a dense city.
