Since opening in March 2026, Taman Bendera Pusaka has welcomed a growing range of activities. Community groups hold gatherings, cultural programmes, and public events in the park. Students and professionals also visit the site for learning and exploration.
The months following its completion offer an early glimpse into how Taman Bendera Pusaka is becoming part of Jakarta’s public life.
A Growing Place for Community Life
Since opening, the park has hosted a growing range of community activities. Movie nights, public gatherings, cultural celebrations, government programmes, and historical walks have brought different groups into the landscape.
JxB Movie Night brought a large public gathering into the park. ICAPPS Young Planner Talks and Walking Tour also introduced young planners to the landscape through discussion and on-site exploration.
Other activities have included the Komunitas Traveler Kompasiana gathering, the “Tunggu Anak Siap” community event, “Ngopi di Taman,” FitnFun4Autism by Yayasan Mpati, Karya Anak Jakarta Festival, Festival Muharram 1448 H, and the “Ngider Taman Bendera Pusaka” historical expedition by Teman Taman JKT and Historia Batavia.
The variety of activities reflects the flexibility of the landscape. The amphitheatre, open spaces, pathways, pavilions, playground, and water edges offer different settings for gathering, learning, recreation, and informal social activity.
From Community Events to Everyday Use
Beyond community events, Taman Bendera Pusaka is also becoming part of everyday life in Jakarta.
Visitors use the landscape for walking, exercising, meeting friends and family, spending time outdoors, and enjoying its greenery. Public reviews have highlighted its green spaces, facilities, atmosphere, and opportunities for recreation.
This everyday use is an important part of the park’s transformation. While organised events bring people together for specific occasions, everyday visits show how the landscape is becoming part of people’s routines and experiences of the city.
A Landscape That Invites People to Learn
The impact of Taman Bendera Pusaka extends beyond recreation and community activities. The park has also attracted students, young professionals, and people interested in landscape and urban development.
Landscape architecture students from IPB have visited the site to study its design and engineering. These visits create another layer of engagement. The park becomes a place to observe how water, vegetation, circulation, public space, and ecological systems work together.
The approach to water is particularly relevant. The former concrete canal was transformed into a living blue-green corridor using wetland areas, planted embankments, riprap, gabion structures, and ecological planting.
These interventions help slow water flow and expand flood capacity. They also support biodiversity and bring people closer to water.
As the park matures, these systems give visitors opportunities to experience ecological processes that were previously hidden within conventional drainage infrastructure.
Becoming Part of Jakarta’s Public Conversation
These activities and visits show how Taman Bendera Pusaka is becoming part of Jakarta’s public life. The landscape is no longer only a completed project, but a place that continues to be shaped through use, learning, and community engagement.
